My April Adventures
April has been full of workshops, talks and trading at The Big 24 Exhibition
hosted by The Quilters Guild, Region 8.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone at the show and all the beautiful work that has been done. Thank you to everyone who organised it and for looking after us all so well.
My Eco Dyeing printing technique has been a popular workshop this month as all the new foliage is coming into fruition. Some fabulous results have been achieved as you can see in the photo above.
New Thread Packaging
We love our brand new hand dyed thread packaging!
We have been busy in the studio hand dying new variegated threads.
And look at our new packaging! We now have custom wooden bobbins for all of our threads.
With over 400 cotton and wool threads to wind, we are slowly converting toour wooden packaging.
It will take us some time so in the meantime, you may receive one without.

Dyeing To Do The Colourwheel

Just using red, yellow and blue procion dyes we will dye fabric into the colour wheel. We will be doing a few more techniques as well, to acquire some beautiful colours and patterns on the fabrics.
Introduction to Free Motion Machining
Saturday 8th June
4 spaces left
Free motion machining is basically drawing with your sewing machine needle. It does take practice but once you have mastered it, it will open so many more design and textile doors for you.
In the workshop we will be starting from the beginning and just scribbling and drawing basic shapes with our sewing machine then gradually moving on to create floral shapes, apples, pears, writing and so on. By the end of the day, you will be able to ‘draw’ with your sewing machine needle.
Guest Tutor
Birds of a Sequined Feather
with Paula Watkins
Friday 17th May

We are very excited to welcome Paula Watkins as a guest tutor at the studio!
On this one day off workshop, we will be learning how to use hand cut stencils on painted calico. We will use acrylic paint to create a background before adding hand embroidery and drawings.
We will be using hand carved Indian wood blocks to print birds which will be hand embroidered with silk thread and embellished with exquiste sequins. Simple stitches made with gorgeous materials with make our birds into creatures of beauty!
So, again, its a full on month of creativity. I hope that I will see you on my continuing textile journey.
Have a great month, Sit, Sew and Create!
