Welcome to the world of
Mellymade Designs
I have developed some patterns from workshops, easy to understand with lots of photos.
Mellymade Designs is now working with Aahilya Creations in India and helping to support Indian Artisans, These blocks were made, using my designs by block carvers in India. As they are carved by hand, there will be some slight variations. New designs have just arrived for July 2022
You can now book my workshops at Mellymade Designs online. New face to face and Zoom workshops are now available to book.
Workshops at other venues need to be booked at that venue.
I had a wonderful time in India this time, in fact it blew me away. Watch this space to find out when I will be going again and maybe you would like to come with me in February /March 2025.
There are new workshops dates available. I am also teaching at various studios and shops, including www.alexandrawaylett.com, www.fabricpaperscissors.co.uk and at Cottenham Summer School, www.community.cvcweb.net.
I am also collaborating again with Cambridgeshire Community Arts and Creative Fenland Arts through out the year, teaching different 8 week courses. Go to www.camcommarts.org.uk for more information.
I am delighted that Louise Drake aka 'The Maker on the Move 'will be coming to the studio in the Autumn to teach Crochet and Macrame workshops which I know, will be great fun. You can find out more about Louise on this link - https://m.facebook.com/themakeronthemove
Workshop bookings at my studio are now all done online as well as my patterns and Print blocks.
You will need to contact the venue if you wish to do a workshop I am doing elsewhere.
So however you want to learn, I now have an option that will suit you I hope. As always, if you want something else, please do get in touch and I will try and find a way to facilitate.
I am a British Textile Artist and Tutor. I have been working with textiles for over forty five years. In the last fifteen years or so I have been teaching textile and mixed media workshops for beginners and advanced . I love to pass my knowledge on as well as still learning new techniques myself.
I have a passion for all things floral and fauna as well as old arts and crafts such as Indian Block Printing. I was fortunate enough to visit India in 2019 twice and again in January 2023. There was so much inspiration in all that I saw and I am now using some of it in my present work.
I am a past Co-ordinator for Region 9 Quilters Guild. I set up the Elysian Quilters group in Ely, Cambridgeshire. I am chairman of Stitched Together (formerly Cambridgeshire Embroiderers' Guild) and joined a newly formed Contemporary Quilters Group, CQ Iceni which is affiliated with The Quilters Guild. I am also part of the Stitchers Inc group set up by Alexandra Waylett over ten years ago, lookout for details of our exhibition in October 2023. Exciting times ahead.
I am chuffed to have a piece of work published in the WOW book 5, and I also have had some other pieces printed in various stitching magazines.
I hope what you see inspires you .
Sit, Sew and Create!
